Mercedes-Benz have recently taken a brand focus on C-Class and S-Class models, both of which have fresh box designs and have seen strong sales. The E-Class isn’t about to be left behind though, as a new model is set to be released early next year. Big Motoring World reviews the seventh generation of the series.

The E-Class has the most successful model for sales at Mercedes, with 13 million sold globally to date. The latest version is due for unveiling at January’s Detroit Motor Show, and it is set to rival the BMW 5 Series rival – the most technologically advanced model it’s ever produced.

There are set to be four styles in the range – the Saloon will be first, followed by an Estate later next year. The Coupe is due out in 2017, and finally the Convertible at the back end of that year.

The cabin has had a major overhaul, with two high-definition digital displays replacing the typical instruments in a Benz. This will give access to some of the most advanced tech and safety systems of any production car. Externally, the E-Class is set to remain similar to previous models, with the only major difference in lighting where the latest model will include 84 individual high-performance LEDs rather than the 24 used in the current E-Class.

There have been many technological advancements since the release of the previous E-Class, including Mercedes Intelligent Drive, Accident Prevention safety, Remote Parking Pilot and Mercedes-Benz PRE-SAFE technology which all feature in the latest model.
