Featuring a revised exterior, visually the 2018 A-Class is a clear departure from it’s older brother. The front end, in particular, has seen the most dramatic of a raft of sweeping changes witnessing all-new front panels, a much more sculptured bumper which has a more aggressive edge and striking new headlights which all add up to a fresh new approach. The visual design changes also continue throughout the rest of the car which witnesses a more refined and less pronounced side profile and revised rear light clusters and rear bumpers. It’s clear that real thought has gone into how this redesigned model looks and reflects perfectly the latest in Merc’s evolving design direction.
The interior has also been at the receiving end of some cosmetic changes which see’s the new design philosophy extend through to the cabin. Featuring the latest in Mercedes Benz technology, the interior options and equipment levels on the 2018 A Class are vast and specified to the highest standard has the equipment to rival the standard of the Mercedes S-Class. Most notable of these options is Mercedes Benz’s eye-catching and advanced dual 10.25-inch central display which replaces the main instruments with dual information displays which illustrate all the vehicles vital information and entertainment options in a clear and intuitive display. With technology like this becoming more prevalent on vehicles within this market segment, Mercedes arguably leads the way in this respect.
From a mechanical point of view, at launch, the new 2018 A Class includes one diesel, the A180d and two petrol engines A200 and A250. Whilst electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular with motorists, there are no plans to introduce an electrified or hybrid version this year or next but reports state that come the turn of the decade, we may see one appear.
