Highlights Of The Current BMW Range
BMW is a long-established player in the premium car market and has established itself as one of the must-have badges. In 2019 the marque sees increased competition from a number of rapidly growing manufacturers. To stay one step ahead, the entire BMW portfolio has undergone a significant overhaul.
Up until recently the established players have pretty much had it all of their own way, however, this has slowly started to change as the likes of Volvo have slowly upped their game and changed the angle of their brand in an effort to tempt over what would be BMW customers. Faced with this and a number of models coming to the end of their product cycle, BMW kicked into motion a major overhaul which not only included new designs but the return of an iconic model.
With a range so broad, what is hot right now?
All-new BMW 1 Series:
Spearheaded by the 135i, the highly popular BMW 1-Series is back in impressive fashion. Tasked with taking the fight to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, the 1-Series features a dramatic design overhaul and debuts BMW’s all-new interior designs and architecture. It’s a visual departure to that of its predecessor and is a visually striking machine. On sale this year, there’s no doubt that the 1-Series will continue to be a sales success story for the marque.
One of the first machines to feature BMW’s new grille design, the X7 is an enormous machine and is geared towards taking sales away from major rival Range Rover. Polarising opinions at launch, the X7’s visuals were called into question. Was that grille to large or as a model, was it really necessary? As time has gone by however and the rest of the updated BMW range has been revealed, the X7 suddenly makes sense. It’s luxurious, spacious and a luxury SUV that can go toe-to-toe with the very best.
The return of an iconic name. Absent for over two decades, the BMW 8-Series returns in a blaze of glory. Arguably the only vehicle type missing from the BMW range, the ‘8’ slots in near the top end as a luxury grand tourer. A sleek coupe design that is complemented by a range of exciting powertrains, the 8-Series is a very capable machine indeed and has its sights set on Porsche’s all-conquering 911. Recently the M8 has joined the fray. Featuring a 4.4-litre V8 turbocharged engine which is capable of producing 616bhp, it comes with an eye-watering price tag, £130,000.
